Growing up as an only child in the woods of Maine, I had plenty of inspiration and time to work on my artistic skill. Since then, my primary medium is water-soluble oil paints. I often describe my work as abstract landscapes that are heavily influenced by the darkness, serenity, and mystery of the environment I grew up with. Recently, I have been inspired by geometric forms. The simplicity of geometry is seemingly unnatural and holds a great deal of relaxation. I try to find a balance between the organic patterns I see in nature and the uniformity of geometry - both giving me a sense of peace with just enough chaos to keep things interesting. Life is not simple. Neither is nature. This is why I paint. |
